Calling all singers! Summer Choir begins weekly rehearsals on May 24 at 7pm, and anyone is welcome to come and participate. The program will take place on July 9. Talk to Alba Beasley if you are interested in singing with us!
Each Wednesday night our Children’s Mission Program will be assembling 12 bags of healthy, non-perishable food to go in weekend backpacks for children at Venable Elementary School. This backpack program at Venable provides meals and snacks for the weekend for families who are currently unable to provide meals for the family. All Souls Church is partnering with UBC to collect food for these weekend bags. You can help by donating packages of 12 or more of the following foods:
- Oatmeal, Grits, Cream of wheat, Individual cereal, Breakfast bars
- Soup, Chili, Instant noodles, Peanut butter/cheese crackers
- Mac & cheese, Canned chicken, Canned Ravioli, Canned Beefaroni, Canned Spaghetti, Canned Beans
- Protein bars, Fruit cups, Raisins, Popcorn, Pudding, Pretzels
- Shelf-stable milk boxes, Juice boxes
Look for collection boxes on the stage in the fellowship hall, and in the first floor lobby.
On Sunday, May 21 (6:45-8pm), come hear from Scott Miller, Director of Financial Aid at UVA, about how to pay for college. This event is free and open to the public. It’s ideal for parents/grandparents of youth applying to college or kids still several years away–it helps to start early! More details here.
For our final Wednesday evening of the semester, May 24, we’re having a cookout in our front lot, 5-7pm. Free and open to all!
Wednesday, May 17, 6:15pm in Fellowship Hall
Fun! Entertaining! Hilarious! Not to be missed! Memorable! Full of surprises!
In addition to a variety of performances, we will also have pies and cakes to raffle off. Contact Larry Johnson or Laura Morris if you’d like to share some variety or to bake a pie or cake!
UVA Students: with exams upon us, UBC is opening our building as a quiet place to study, May 3-11, 1pm-11pm each day. Free wi-fi, snacks, coffee and drinks provided. UBC folks, sign up now to volunteer during these study times.

Movies entertain us. But they can also make us think and feel. A film does not have to be specifically ‘Christian’ to help us ‘think Christianly’ about our world. On these three Wednesday evenings, we will look at clips from the movies listed and discuss the issues they raise for us as people of faith. While it is not necessary, you may wish to watch the entire film in advance of each discussion.
All are invited to join us, Wednesdays at 6:15pm.
Everyone is invited to participate–kids (of all ages!), youth, families, adults–as we worship together this Sunday morning (5/7/17) in a special interactive worship service, during the Sunday Bible Study hour (9:45-10:30). This will be a partcipatory, hands-on worship experience for families to do together, facilitating inter-generational conversation and fellowship. Come and join us!

An updated UBC Directory will be distributed in April. Please contact the church office with any updates to your address, phone number, or email. If you’d like a new photo included in the directory, please send that in as well. Alternatively, find Will Brown to take your picture before or after worship. Otherwise, we will use the same photo from last year.
