Missy HansenWe are partnering with Valley Pastoral Counseling Center (VPCC) and their Resident, Melissa Hansen, to provide pastoral counseling.  Melissa has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Gordon College in Wenham, MA, and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.  She is working as a Resident in Counseling at VPCC and toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia.  She works under the clinical supervision of  C. Alan Melton, D.Min., LPC who is also at VPCC.

Starting January 1, 2014, Melissa will see clients in Charlottesville here at University Baptist Church (1223 W. Main Street, Charlottesville, VA, 293-5106) on Mondays between 8 am and 7 pm.  She will add additional times as necessary.

Melissa has experience working with adults, children and adolescents (preschool+), families, and groups in a variety of settings.  She currently works with individual adults, couples, families, groups, children, and adolescents.

With individual adults she uses a psychodynamic, existential, pastoral approach depending on the client’s needs.

With couples and families she uses a combination of psychodynamic and family systems approaches.

With children she uses play or behavioral therapy and with adolescents she uses a combination of a psychodynamic and family systems approach.

Melissa especially enjoys working with clients on relational issues, personality challenges, and personal growth and spirituality concerns.
