Sunday Morning Worship
University Baptist Church is known for its unique blend of worship styles. As Baptists, we gather to sing familiar favorites from the Baptist Hymnal, hear the reading and preaching of the Word of God, issue an invitation to make a public profession of faith, and practice believer’s baptism.
However, we also draw from the wider Christian tradition, dating back to the first century. We follow the seasons of the church year (such as Advent and Lent), observe Holy Days (such as Ash Wednesday), and celebrate special occasions.
We use traditional symbols, paraments, colors, ceremonies, litanies, and ordinances to re-enact the story of divine redemption, and to draw the whole person into a meaningful encounter with God.
Each service at University Baptist Church is uniquely and creatively designed to proclaim a particular theme. Without sacrificing warmth or energy, reverence and dignity are maintained. In summary, we are Baptists worshiping in an ecumenical tradition.

Because we are a downtown congregation, parking can be a challenge. We recommend that you arrive early to assure yourself of a visitor’s parking place in our front or back lot. We ask our regular attenders and members who are capable of a little walk to use street parking or one of the nearby free lots shown on the map below.
Handicap Accessible Entrances
We have a ground-level wheel-chair accessible entrance from our back parking lot (where we also have several handicapped parking spots reserved). There is an elevator that can take you from the ground-level to the first floor, where the sanctuary is located.
We also have a wheel-chair accessible ramp located at the front of the sanctuary entrance on West Main Street. That ramp will take you straight to the narthex of the sanctuary.
Childcare is provided for infants through preschoolers in our Nursery/Preschool Suite during the Sunday morning worship service. The Preschool Suite is located on the ground level.
