University Students

University Students

University students are central to the life and ministry of UBC, and we invite you to join with us in serving God together. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome and wanted here!

From our “Welcome to UVA Students” reception and luncheon in September to our graduate recognition service in May, student ministry is a way of life at UBC. The academic year is filled with opportunities for study, service, spiritual growth, and fellowship. Our goal is to be an encouraging and supportive community of faith to students during their time at the University.

A Quiet Place to Study

Each semester, during exam week, University Baptist Church opens its doors to all students, both undergraduate and graduate, as “A Quiet Place to Study.” During the Fall 2020 semester, we are extending these hours to give students a place to study all semester!

Rooms are set up so that individual students will have private space to participate in Zoom calls and complete their work while socially distanced. Snacks and beverages are available in the church kitchen to keep you fueled all day long. In order to maintain our social distancing protocols, please reserve your time in particular room.

SIGN UP HERE to reserve a study room, and make sure to read our full set of AQPTS guidelines before you arrive (this includes information about which doors to use for entry and for parking). Rooms are labeled with specific colors to help you find the right spot once you arrive. Each tab on this Sign Up Genius sheet represents a separate room. You can view and reserve available time up to two weeks in advance.

Beginning Monday, September 28, our open hours will be Monday – Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are hopeful that we will be able to extend our hours into the evenings and on Fridays later this semester, so check back soon for extended hours! Questions can be directed to our Associate Minister for Students, Val Fisk (vfisk@universitybaptist.org).

Sunday Mornings

UBC welcomes all college students in the Charlottesville area to join us for worship each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. We also invite you to participate in our collegiate Bible Study class on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m.

We periodically provide a free lunch after worship on Sundays, as an opportunity for you to get to know other students and families in our congregation.

Jubilate!2015-03-30_Jubilate-4023

Jubilate is our church’s auditioned choir for university students. This group performs on the grounds at the university, in our Sunday morning worship services, and in churches throughout Virginia.  Each year during Spring break, Jubilate takes a major concert tour and in previous years has traveled to Boston, New York, St. Louis, Orlando, Indianapolis, and Colorado.  Last year, Jubilate traveled to New Orleans and helped rehab houses damaged during Hurricane Katrina.  For more information on Jubilate, click here.
