There is a long tradition of musical excellence at University Baptist Church. We recognize that sacred music is neither an optional extra nor merely spiritual entertainment within the worship of the church. It is an essential part of worship and, therefore, must have integrity and quality appropriate for its prophetic (bringing the Word of God to the congregation) and priestly (bringing the congregation’s words of praise to God) roles.
Sanctuary Choir
Our Sanctuary Choir strives to offer its very best to the glory of God. Past performances have included settings of the Gloria by Vivaldi, Rutter and Poulenc, Requiem by Faure and Rutter, and Messiah by Handel. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights, 7:00-8:30 pm, Room 205.
We have a Summer Choir each year during the summer months, and we present a program sometime in July or August. On July 15, 2012, the Summer Choir, accompanied by brass, organ, and piano, presented a program of the music of John Ness Beck.
Jubilate
Jubilate is our auditioned choir for both undergraduate and graduate students. Jubilate performs a wide variety of musical styles and traditions from classical to contemporary. Rehearsals take place on Sunday evenings, beginning with a meal at 6:00 pm.
Voces Laetae
Voces Laetae is a community youth choir begun in 2022.
